Chuck
Fields Wins TOC!

L-R
Chuck Fields, Jim Smith, Lindy Frasl
Not only
was the TOC lake name a secret (Bay Lake)
but it also revealed it held some nice
fish. It was a tough bite under blue bird
skies with North cold front winds, but
most of the anglers managed to get a
limit. Chuck Fields 6-3 lb sow lead the
way to a five bass limit of 13-9 lbs and
first place! Jim Smith's scrounged-up a
limit for 11-8 lbs to take second place
and finishing third was Lindy Frasl with
11-1 lbs. Chuck Fields also took Big Bass
honors with that 6-3 lb Lunker which also
tied with Jim Smith for the season's
biggest Bass!
It was a good way to end a great season.
I want to thank everyone that
participated this year. I look forward to
seeing you all next year!
Jim Smith
Wins on the River!

L-R
Jim Smith, Brian Brown, Arnie Farber
The final
Excel Bass Singles event was held on the
Mississippi River - Brainerd, MN with 21
anglers competing. It was a three man
points race for Angler of the Year that
went right down to the wire. Jim Smith
edged Lindy Frasl out for the 2006 AOY
Title and first place with a mixed bag of
smallies and largemouth for a five fish
limit of 17-4 lbs.
Brian
Brown went so far north he came back with
snow on his boat! He got into the
Brownies to secure second place with a
16-3 lbs limit. Local River Rat, Arnie
Farber, finished third with 15-1 lbs. Jim
Smith also took Big Bass honors with a
5-0 lb toad.
This was
the final tournament of the 2006 regular

Excel Bass! A big thank you to everyone

Another

Lindy
Frasl takes the win on Woman Chain

L-R
Jim Eide, Lindy Frasl, Jim Smith
Another
hot and humid day greeted the anglers. A
strong south wind gave some relief but
blew most of the anglers off any main
lake deep spots. Most regrouped and put
together several nice limits of mostly
largemouth with a few brownies mixed it.
Lindy
frasl won for the second time this year
putting him in first place for the Angler
of the Year point race. Lindys
"jigs-n-rice" pattern earned
him first place with an 18 pound five
fish limit. Jim Smith secured second
place with 14.3 lbs and Jim Eide finished
third with 14.1 lbs. Joel Stokka earn the
lunker award with a 5.4 toad.
It was a
great tournament and everyone had a great
time. I want to thank the folks at
Patricks Supper Club for hosting our
event this year! The next tournament is
on lake Pokegama on August 20th. See you
there!

Jeff
Johnson sets new Excel record!

L-R
Aaron Anderson, John Gapinski, Keith
Tuma, Jeff Johnson
An early
storm ended just in time to get the
anglers off to what turned to be a great
day on the water. Hot weather had the fish
going all week and the winds layed down
by mid-morning to get most anglers to
their honey holes. It was a record day
for Excel Bass with 381 pounds of fish
caught averaging 3.01 pounds for 26
anglers! Mostly 4 and 5 pounders with a
few 3 lbs dinks mixed in.
Jeff
Johnson from Bemidji put together a
record five fish limit weighing 20.06
pounds! Keith Tuma was close with 19.04
lbs for second place, John Gapinski
frogged his way to secure third place
with 19 lbs and Aaron Anderson finished
fourth with 18.05 lbs. Jim Smith took big
fish honors with a 6-3 Leech Lake Lunker.
It was a
great job of fish handling with only
three fish lost in 90+ degree heat! Great job everyone!
