Updated 9/2/06

Wow...the Summer flew by and we're winding down to the last event of the season. The River should be another good one as the Smallies have been going most of the year. This years TOC is on lake that will be disclosed at the River tournament. The TOC water will be off-limits until the day of the tourney.

There's a four way race for AOY that's sure to go down to the wire!

See you on the River!

Update 5/12/06

Well..open water had arrived none to soon for most of us for sure. I have had to make a few adjustments with to host sites and conditions.

The Pokegama Site ease-off and weigh-in has been moved to Tioga Beach Park. This was due to the new owners of the Bridgeside undergoing a remodel of the building and insurance requirements. Tioga is closer to the Main Landing most will use and has a nice sand beach as well. Next year Zorbas(new owners) will welcome back tournaments.

I 'm finalizng a weigh-in procedure which will include "Air Stations" instead of water baskets/bump tanks. We'll also be weighing in using a new scale in pounds and ounces. The big fish will play a bigger role this year as it will be the "Tie Breaker".

I'm also working on a big bass of the year sponsor. We may have a nice cash award for the largest bass! I'll keep you posted.

I will continue to post maps, directions and information on tournaments this year. Please check back from time to time. Info will be posted on the "schedules" page.

Remember...Excel TNT Kicks-Off June 1st on Gull Lake!!

Update 3/22/6

I'm back for the season after a couple of extended trips to Florida. I had the pleasure of going to the Bassmaster Classic this year and let me tell you it was an experience for sure. My VIP tickets let me nearly touch the anglers as they entered the arena and weighed their fish. I would recommend going to a Classic if you can get a chance.

I decided to keep the TOC the same for this year. I rec'd great ideas from the message board and I'll be changing the format to a two day Classic next year. I'm still working on getting a block of rooms for Pokegama and Leech. If you haven't already booked a room for these events..I would suggest looking to see whats available now. I'll be posting blocked room info this week.

Softwater is just 30 days away!

Update 2/12/6

I have rec'd permits for all tournaments on the schedule. The Pokegama tournament will
include the river to Hwy 6. The Woman Lake Chain Tournament will include the lakes of Woman, Little Woman, Girl and Child. I have also updated the tournament information page which can be accessed through the schedules page and click the lake.

I have include a BIO form for your to fill out and send with your application or e-mail. I'll link your bio with your name on the paid entry page.

I am still working on host hotel sites. Check the message board for updates.

I am thinking of a new TOC format. Top 20 will be bracketed the first day and the final 10 will complete the 2nd day. Go to the message board and provide me with your ideas.

I am accepting registrations. Remember, last year we had a waiting list.

Soft water is just 60 days away!

Update 10/31/05

The 2006 tournament permits have been submitted. It appears at first glance that we have no conflicts. Now we play the wait and see game. I have new water and a few new rules for 2006. I have also added a two tournament week-end to help those that come a distance. Here are a few highlights for 2006:

  • New Water - Cass Chain, Women and *Pokegama

  • New rule additions - most notable an off-limits rule.

  • Membership fee - I am putting together a Member Package
complete with tackle, discount coupons ect. to off-set the fee.

  • Host hotels - I'll try and get blocked rooms with discounted
pricing for those spending a night.

*The Pokegama tournament application included the upper lakes and Mississippi River.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Update 10/4/5

I want to thank all who participated in this year tournaments making Excel Bass the fastest growing circuit in Minnesota! We have some new and exciting things for 2006 that we'll detail very soon. Also, coming in 2006 is a new team series called "Team Excel". The new team series is a "paydown" format designed to spread the money farther down the line with bonus pots and two big Bass awards! Watch for new water and date selections in the near future.
